Mother's Day: Don't Forget!

As Mother's Day quickly approaches, I am reminded of what being a mother truly entails. Aside from the day to day routines: get kids ready and to school, workout, work, pick up house, run errands, fix meals, pick up kids from school, watch kids play, make sure homework gets done, take kids to practice, bedtime routines, finish up day, and repeat; there is a lot more responsibility in being a good mom.

I am learning that what I do is important, but not nearly as important as how I do it. I can take my kids to school grumpy and frustrated or with a smile and a prayer. I can look at everything I have to do each day or I can look at what I get to do each day. I can rush through each day checking off the boxes on my to-do list or I can focus on being present and enjoying what I set out to do throughout the day and taking time to connect with the people I encounter.

As I learn these important life lessons, it is crucial that I model them and teach them to my children. The key is to be aware of the teachable moments that occur during the day to day routines. It is my prayer that each of us can take time at the beginning of each day to focus on what is truly important in life and gain perspective that remains with us throughout the day.

I recently came across the canvas titled Faded Memories. It is inspired by Deuteronomy 4:9, "But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren." The image appears blurry as a representation of a forgotten memory. It is my prayer that we don't forget the important lessons we learn, but are able to embrace what God is teaching us each day so that we can teach those lessons to our children.

And here is another canvas titled Faded Memories. Although it isn't inspired by scripture that I know of, it is a beautiful piece and one that I can see in a future design. :)
